I have been spotting what I call “Bug Bias” by the media a lot. I’m not talking about some back-room conspiracy where people are teaming up against eating bugs, it is simply an inherent trait among most Westerners. It really shines through in this article. It is the “Yuck Factor” that resides in the minds and conditioning of most of the people of non-insect eating cultures (which is a minority on Earth, btw)…the writer approaches the subject from the perspective…well, here, check it out for yourself…

(The Yuck Factor needs to be overcome…and it will be)

“People aren’t meant to eat crickets,” says Sarah Mindrup, who is completely happy never knowing what a bug tests like. “Eat a steak,” she says.

I’m surprised that Zach, a good Nebraska boy, is open to the idea of eating crickets…Thankfully, Zach admits that steak tastes better than bugs. Some people actually grill crickets and grasshoppers…Some misguided souls even include dead insects in shish kabobs.

They also say crickets have more protein and less fat than beef. Crickets, the company brags, are gluten-free and non-GMO. They’re also disgusting.

She’s interested in trying more foods that contain bugs. She said she’s heard good things about insect tacos. Unlike most people, that woman will probably be happy if she finds bed bugs on her sheets. That way, she can have a midnight snack.
