They’re talking about the city of Chicago here…

But in forest preserves that ring the city and suburbs and along the banks of outlying creeks and ponds, a small group of bugs not only survive the deep freeze, they thrive. Mother Nature has given them a vital secret weapon to deal with the harsh Midwest cold: a unique protein or fluid that chemically acts just like antifreeze, preventing them from freezing to death, experts say.
