I don't think McDonald's yet served chicken when this photo was taken.

McDonald’s says that what it boils down to is: they want to save the forests. The increased demand for chicken means increased demand for chicken feed, which means increased demand for soy, which means increased demand on land etc. and they don’t want to contribute to the deforestation of any more lands due to soy farming.

The spokesman for McDonald’s actually mentions the year 2050 (obviously citing the UN FAO 2013 report on Edible Insects) in his interview, which tells us that someone over at McDonald’s is probably a member of the Ento Nation!

No doubt, the Black Soldier Fly will play a part in all of this. More to come…
