…Hey! We have a new bug ice cream story!

Edible insects have been touted as the next ‘superfood’, with the creepy crawlies packed full of protein, nutrients, potassium, magnesium and three times more fatty acids than omega-3 in salmon. And while the unusual treats are not yet on cafe menus around the country, a pop-up ice cream shop in Canberra recently gave university students a taste of what’s to come. On the menu were four creations including Scurry Berry, Choc Hopper with chocolate and grasshopper chunks, Strawberries and Swirls complete with meal-worms and Nutritious Neopolitan with a plethora of tiny critters.
