The Australian government is handing out grants to people interested in investigating the potential of insects, and Dr. Philip Ellery is taking some of that money and running with the idea of mealworms as people food, pet food, and livestock feed.

“At the end of the day you could consider them as a land prawn — we quite happily eat a Moreton Bay bug here in Queensland, so I think that change is coming,” Dr Ellery said.
